Football does not equal football in all parts of the world. Every national league has its own unique style that shapes players and coaches.

For this episode of Running the World, Anyone’s Game caught up with Stirling University player Mariluz Sanchez and Celtic manager Fran Alonso to find out more about the differences between Spanish and Scottish football.

Having played in Germany, Spain, France and Scotland, Sanchez already has more experience at a young age than some players collect in their whole career. She discusses how competing in different countries has impacted her as a player.

Finding your style of football is all about passion for Alonso. He speaks about what inspires him and also explains the differences between coaching females and males.

With the league in Scotland restricted due to the Covid-19 pandemic, both guests express their frustration about not being able to do what they love and how they still manage to stay motivated.

Rounding the episode off, our panellists put the spotlight on star players in the national leagues of Spain, Italy and Germany.
