Stirling University are not done for yet insists new head coach Tim Jones.

The SWPL 2 bottom side are eight points adrift after just one point from 10 games.

However Jones, who faces a formidable first game in charge away to leaders Aberdeen, says he would not have taken the job if he felt his side were not up to the challenge.

He told Anyone’s Game: “We have the quality there to target not being in that bottom position by the end of the league. There’s plenty of time to do that. And I think that despite one or two more difficult results we’ve definitely seen improvements.

“There’s no doubt the last game we had against Hamilton [2-4 defeat] - that was a far better performance from us than the previous attempt against them[8-0]. And we have one or two players coming in that strengthens the depth of the squad as well.

“So, really looking forward to the challenges, and genuinely believe we can compete with any of the teams in this league.”
