Motherwell Women finally “feel a part of the club now” says captain Gill Inglis.
The Lanarkshire side have risen to fifth in the Scottish Women’s Premier League under Paul Brownlie, who was appointed head coach in summer.
That’s one place higher than they finished last season, and Inglis - who in in her third season at the club - says there’s more of a connect between the players and the Fir Park club.
“We can feel in the women’s team that the club have made an investment in us” Inglis told Anyone’s Game.
“He [Brownlie] has made a connection with the club in terms of we all definitely feel closer.”
Brownlie moved quickly to bring former Scotland international and Glasgow City star Leanne Crichton to Motherwell in a player-coach role during the summer, and captain Inglis thinks they are all reaping the benefits of her addition to the club.
“Leanne has had a fantastic career” added Inglis.
“She brings a lot of positives to us in terms of she motivates us. She demands that we work hard in every training session and every game. She sets very high standards. The same as Paul.
“He has brought in his own staff and brought in a lot of new players.”
The new Well boss has extensive experience within the women’s game in Scotland, having been a senior member of Celtic’s women’s academy for seven years.
“He wants us to be really attacking,” said Inglis. “He wants us to be strong as a unit as well as go out and express ourselves and be creative on the pitch.”
