Kilmarnock “know what we need to do” says Andy Gardner in order reach the SWPL 2 promotion play-off.
Eight points separate four clubs in the fight to finish behind newly-crowned champions Dundee United, who beat Killie 4-0 on Sunday.
Fourth-place Kilmarnock travel to Boroughmuir Thistle on Wednesday hoping to close the gap on their hosts to one point, and also move to within five of second-place Glasgow Women.
“We’re fairly confident,” Gardner told Anyone’s Game. “It’s about staying focused.
“There’s plenty of games left for us, seven games to go. We just need to stay focused on what our duties are to get up into the top league. We know if we win those games, we can get up there.”
Killie finished with 10 players in Sunday’s home loss to Dundee United with Leia Swan going off with injured, with covid and injuries leaving him short of options.
“We knew the squad was decimated,” said Gardner. “We’ve got a squad of 24 players, we had 12 available. We’ve had a player that’s been out for two years having to come back and play 90 minutes. Madness.
“We’ve had to leave people on the side lines as they’re not 100% and we want everyone to be at 100%. We know that they’ll be ready for Wednesday night. We’ll have a few of the covid cases who’ve been out since last Monday back in the squad on Tuesday for training and hopefully available for Wednesday”.
