Stewart Hall has told Motherwell he wants the role of head coach on a permanent basis, but expects a wait with the club “opening it up to several other people”.
Lifelong Motherwell fan Hall believes he is “an ideal candidate” to take over the reigns full-time, something the Lanarkshire club have told him they agree with.
Hall has taken interim charge since Eddie Wolecki Black left days before the restart of the SWPL 1 season, losing narrowly 3-2 to Forfar Farmington and Hibernian.
“I feel I know where the club wants to go in the women’s department,” said Hall. “I’ve got the club’s best interest at heart being a fan as well, growing up supporting the club all my life.
“I think over the last couple of week the girls have responded to myself and Willie [Kinniburgh] helping us out.
“But I know the club will take their time and make the right decision for the longevity of the women’s department here at Motherwell.”

Wolecki Black left after the club won just one of their opening seven games of the season, and the club currently sit above bottom-club Hearts only on goal difference.
A shock result against champions Glasgow City on Sunday would go a long way to helping land Hall the position.
He said: “The first two games have been frustrating but the performances have been fantastic. To walk away with a defeat both times we’ve felt quite hard done by.
“But the positive signs are there, performances are there, and I’m sure in the next couple of weeks we’ll start to see the results come.”
