Glasgow City: Grant Scott appointed interim head coach
Former Hibernian boss to take charge until new head coach "joins later in the year"
Former Hibernian boss Grant Scott has been appointed as Glasgow City’s interim head coach.
A two-times Women’s Scottish Cup and SWPL Cup winner with Hibs, Scott will take charge of the reigning champions until “the new Glasgow City head coach joins later in the year”.
Grant has previously worked at City after being appointed as assistant to Scott Booth - who will leave to take charge of Birmingham City - in February 2020 after stepping down as Hibs boss.
“It is a real honour to work with this special club again especially as interim head coach,” said Scott.
“Like every season there will be challenges but as always at City, we’ll welcome that and hope those challenges keep pushing us to new levels. We can’t wait to get started.”
Glasgow City open their SWPL Cup campaign against Glasgow Women on 8 August, and have been paired with Birkirkara and either BIIK Kazygurt or Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League later that month.
“I am delighted to appoint Grant as interim head coach,” said City chief executive Laura Montgomery.
“It is a very exciting time for the club as we embark on a new era and I am thrilled Grant will help us through our transition to our new head coach who will join officially in a few months time.
“We have always had a succession plan at the club and we have worked diligently to get what and who we wanted in place. Grant is an excellent coach, with one of the best track records in the game. Of course he is no stranger to the club, having outwitted us many times on the field as well as of course joining us briefly at the start of last season as assistant coach.”
