Spanish coach Eva Olid has been appointed as the new manager of Hearts.
Her appointment bolsters the number of female head coaches in SWPL 1 to three alongside Spartans’ Debbi McCulloch and Aberdeen’s Emma Hunter.
With experience of coaching in Spain and USA, Hearts sporting director Joe Savage said she was the outstanding candidate.
“We had lots of impressive applications for the role but Eva’s was the one that instantly stood out,” said Savage.
“She has a great pedigree and lots of experience, and she is also really passionate about the game.
“It’s an exciting appointment. In Eva, Hearts Women are getting a top operator and our players are, I’m certain, going to benefit massively not only from having a Uefa Pro Licence holder as their manager, but from Eva’s enthusiasm and the methods she will put into practice.”
She replaces Andy Kirk, who moved to Brechin City at the end of the 2020-21 season, a campaign where Hearts finished bottom with eight points from 21 games.
Celtic snap up former City midfielder
Former Glasgow City midfielder Tyler Toland has signed for Celtic ahead of their Champions League campaign.
Toland, 19, spent last season on loan at Glasgow City from Manchester City.
"When I spoke to Fran (Alonso, Celtic head coach) I knew it was a perfect fit for me,” said Toland.
“The way he plays his football, his training and philosophy are definitely right for me, and Celtic's obviously a massive club and you can’t turn that opportunity down.”
New coaching roles for former Scotland internationals
Leanne Crichton has moved from Glasgow City to Motherwell to become player-assistant coach.
The 33-year-old leaves the SWPL1 champions after a third spell, having helped steer the club to their 14th consecutive title.
The 72-times capped player will work with new Motherwell boss Paul Brownlie.
And Hibs captain Joelle Murray is to also take on a player-coach role at the Leith club, working under manager Dean Gibson.
New deals for Hamilton
Ellie Kane, Josephine Giard and Rachael O’Neill are among a group of Hamilton players to sign new deals ahead of their SWPL 1 campaign.
And triallist Kirstie McIntosh has also joined the club permanently.
But Kathleen McGovern has returned to Celtic following the end of her loan deal.
