Wales 0-1 Scotland: Erin Cuthbert goal earns friendly win
Scotland have improvements to make ahead of the World Cup qualifiers said interim manager Stuart McLaren after they beat Wales 1-0 in Llanelli.
Erin Cuthbert’s second half goal made it two wins from two in the friendly double header after they beat Northern Ireland by the same scoreline on Thursday.
They begin their campaign to reach the 2023 World Cup away to Hungary in September.
“The first half was difficult against a Welsh side which are very well coached and experienced but we still managed to create the best chance at that point of the game when Erin hit the crossbar,” said McLaren.
“It was good that we made fewer mistakes and actually capitalise on one when the opposition made it. But yes, going forward we need to continue being better at creating chances and finishing chances, for sure.”
McLaren made a range of changes with Rachel Corsie drawing level with Ifeoma Dieke on 123 caps, becoming the joint-ninth most capped Scotland player.
Kim Little, Caroline Weir, Fiona Brown and Cuthbert all returned to the line-up, while Brianna Westrup and Christy Grimshaw won their second caps from the start.
