Priscila Chinchilla out for more Glasgow City success
Priscila Chinchilla is aiming for more success at Glasgow City after the Costa Rican international was named May’s Scottish Building Society SWPL player of the month.
The 19-year-old beat off competition from Hibernian pair Colette Cavanagh and Michaela McAlonie, and Celtic’s Lisa Robertson.
City lifted their 14th consecutive title earlier this month, and Chinchilla scored six goals in May for the champions including a double on the final day of the season against Rangers.
“I’m so happy to have won this award,” said Chinchilla, who signed for the Scott Booth’s side in December.
“Winning the league title with Glasgow City was always my main goal but to be recognised for my contribution is an amazing feeling.
“Moving to a new country and adapting to many new things is never simple but everybody at the club have made things as easy as possible. I’m enjoying playing football in Scotland for Glasgow City and I feel I’m making a positive impact in the team.”
Chinchilla becomes the first international player to win the award. She also received the coaches player of the season award alongside Janine Van Wyk, capping off a spectacular month for the forward.
She added: “I’m excited for the new season and to play my part in more success at the club.”
City sign Portuguese defender
Glasgow City have signed Portuguese international Agata Filipa from Sporting Braga.
The defender, 26, leaves Sporting Braga, with whom she has won the Portuguese top flight and two cups.
"I hope I can contribute with my experience and win titles with this great club," Filipa told Glasgow City's website.
Head coach Scott Booth added: "Agata is a natural talent. She has a fantastic left foot. Her delivery is absolute quality."
