Eva Olid hails 'incredible' Aimee Anderson as young Hearts earn another point

Hearts head coach is full of praise for her young side as they continue to hold their own in SWPL 1

Eva Olid hailed young striker Aimee Anderson as “incredible” as the 17-year-old hit the net in Hearts’ 1-1 draw with Hamilton on Sunday.

The teenage forward was outstanding as Hearts ended a run of two straight defeats and maintained the eight-point gap between themselves and bottom of the table Accies.

Lauren Evan’s equaliser denied Hearts their fifth win of the season, but head coach Olid is pleased with the progress of her youthful side.

“Aimee is an incredible player,” Olid told Anyone’s Game. “She’s so young, she’s 17 years old.

“A big part of my team is 17 years old. I have an under-18 team playing in the first division, but they are amazing.

“This experience, you see the other teams have that we don’t have, but I think that every game they learn. And every game we improve, and this is the way.”

Hearts announced in December they would move to a more professional training set-up, with the majority of the squad now coming in five days a week.

A crowd 3,508 turned out at Tynecastle for the Edinburgh derby with Hibernian that same month as excitement continues to build around the Gorgie club.

And Spaniard Olid is delighted with how the club is progressing, with her side just two points short of doubling their entire points total from last season, while they also host Kilmarnock in the last eight of the Scottish Women’s Cup next month.

“I’m happy here, I’m so happy,” said Olid, who took over from Andy Kirk in summer.

“The club is supporting us, and we hope that the women’s game will be more professional like the men’s and we are working for that.”
