Emma Hunter hails 'historic moment' as Aberdeen appoint first female director
Aberdeen’s appointment of Zoe Ogilvie to the club’s board is a “historic moment” for the Pittodrie club, says women’s co-manager Emma Hunter.
Zoe - mother of Dons striker Francesca Ogilvie - became the first female director in the club’s 118-year history last week.
And it was a double celebration for the Ogilvie family with Francesca netting a hat-trick in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Queen’s Park which maintains their eight-point leads at the top of SWPL 2.
“It’s great to have Zoe on board at the football club,” Hunter told Anyone’s Game.
“It’s such an historic moment. It makes me really proud to see a woman on the board. That’s brilliant and something you want to see.
“Hopefully that builds for the future for more women to be on the board at football clubs and for women’s football to have a bigger presence which is always important.”

A tactical look at Scotland’s friendly win over Northern Ireland
Aberdeen have returned from the enforced break due to Covid-19 in impressive fashion, scoring 10 goals without reply and earning six points from six against Stirling University and Queen’s Park.
However, Hunter knows her side can’t afford to get complacent. with Hamilton Academical, Dundee United and Partick Thistle all vying for one of the two promotion places to next season’s expanded SWPL 1.
She said: “The SWPL 2 is so unpredictable. You know you are going to come up against any team who will make it tough for you.
“Credit to Queens Park. We talked about it at training. We knew they would be tough.
“They were tough the first time we played them at home. They have a real resilience and are organised as well. You know they are getting coached well. They have good shape and the way they pressed us was with intelligence. We knew we had to work hard and they would frustrate us like they did in the first half.”
The chasing pack have a chance to close the gap at the top this weekend, with the Dons having Sunday off due to the international break.
And Hunter is grateful the SWF have agreed to allow them to postpone the game with Glasgow Women, with the league leaders not in action until Wednesday’s trip to St Johnstone.
Hunter said: “The under 19s are off to a camp. We have five international players so it is a bit of a god send this wee break and we will use that really wisely.
“I think the break will be good for us, although I do think that we have got a really good fit and depth of squad here. So we are prepared for the big run of games.
“Amy Strath had to miss the most recent game due to a Covid outbreak. She's out of isolation today (Wednesday). So she will be back in training.”
